Welcome to Between Given Points! This blog is a companion to my artist website. With my art, I am interested in exploration through maps and mapping. It can be anything from the map being the basis of the work and I draw or use maps in collage to drawing with my GPS and then creating works from the data collected. With any work of art, there is some influence or inspiration that helps motivate the artist to create.
With this blog, I want to share some of the many maps I have collected, other websites and artists that focus on maps and mapping. Basically, I want to share part of the impetus of the work I make.
Over time, I will share some of the more interesting maps. Most are rather ordinary road maps. Nothing too special. The ones I like the most are older and that were marked up by their previous owners. Some might just have interesting covers.
On the web there are a plethora of sites dedicated to maps and I see more and more map based art works as I explore. As I come upon these works, I will be happy to share with you.
